Custom Non-Standard Furniture
We make non-standard furniture for spaces and situations where a standard catalog solution is not enough – typically for sloped ceilings, alcoves, under staircases or according to a specific design and dimensions.
Vanprodukt is a Czech furniture manufacturer with a tradition dating back to 1992. At our own production site in Pavlov near Pelhřimov in the Vysočina Region, we combine furniture-making experience, digital preparation and modern CNC technologies.
This allows us to handle not only standard custom furniture, but also structurally or dimensionally demanding elements created for a specific space and way of use.
What is non-standard furniture
Non-standard furniture is furniture made for a space or purpose where a standard series-produced solution does not fit in terms of dimensions, shape, construction or function.
It may be, for example, furniture for an alcove or niche, furniture under a sloped ceiling, a wardrobe or unit under a staircase, furniture around a column or another structural element, a product with non-standard dimensions or shape, or furniture made to your own design or project.
Not only the dimensions have to be non-standard. Sometimes the main reason is an unusual layout, a connection to other furniture, or a requirement that an ordinary series-produced product cannot meet.
When non-standard furniture makes sense
A non-standard solution makes sense mainly where you want to use the available space more efficiently or need to adapt the furniture to a specific building situation.
A typical example is attic furniture, where a sloped roof significantly limits the options for ordinary wardrobes. The space under a staircase, a deeper alcove, a narrow hallway or the area around structural elements can be handled in a similar way.
If you mainly need to create storage space from wall to wall or use the full height of the room, a suitable solution may be custom built-in wardrobes.
For freestanding wardrobes, bookcases, chests of drawers, shoe cabinets and other storage elements, also take a look at our custom wardrobes and storage furniture.
From idea to a manufacturable solution
With non-standard furniture, technical preparation is essential. It is not enough for the design to look good – it must also be structurally sound and manufacturable.
In digital production preparation, we use systems including IMOS and AlphaCAM. We convert designs and technical documents into production data and prepare them for specific production and machining operations.
This is especially important for more complex shapes and connections, where the construction and technological details need to be resolved before production itself.
How a non-standard furniture order works
Every non-standard order is different, but the basic process follows a few consecutive steps.
First we need to understand what space or problem the new furniture is meant to solve. Dimensions, photos, a sketch, a floor plan or project documentation will help us. For specific orders, preparation may also include measuring on site.
Next comes the design of the construction, the choice of suitable materials and technical preparation. Once the solution is approved, we prepare the production data and then make the individual elements at our own production facility in Pavlov.
We determine the specific scope of transport, installation and other follow-up work according to the nature of the order.
Materials and production capabilities
At our own production site we process solid wood, board materials and metal.
Our production technologies include, for example, 5-axis and 4-axis CNC machining, CNC drilling, precise material cutting, edge banding, sanding, profiling, lacquering and other finishing operations.
A broader technological base matters for non-standard furniture precisely because the product does not have to be limited to simple flat parts or a single method of processing.
We always choose the material and construction solution according to the function of the product, the desired look and the specific conditions of the project.
A real project: custom built-in bookcase
One example of Vanprodukt's custom production is a custom built-in bookcase made of oak veneer with a matte transparent lacquer.
The project began with measuring at the customer's premises and a consultation on materials and the customer's ideas. This was followed by the preparation of a 3D visualization, production itself, delivery and final installation on site.
Projects like this show why, with non-standard furniture, it is important to combine design, technical preparation and production itself.

Non-standard furniture made to your own design
Do you have your own drawing, visualization or a design from an architect or interior designer? We can also work with prepared technical documents.
Depending on the scope and level of the documentation, we can follow up on the design with technical preparation and production itself.

What to send us for the initial assessment
You do not need complete production documentation for the first consultation.
What helps us most are the basic dimensions of the space, a few photos, a simple sketch or floor plan, and a brief description of what the new furniture should solve. Inspirational photos or visualizations are also useful.
If you already have drawings or project documentation, you can of course send those right away.
The more precise the documents we receive, the better we can assess a suitable construction, materials and next steps.
How much does custom non-standard furniture cost
With non-standard furniture, a universal price per meter says little. Two products of similar size can differ completely in structural and production complexity.
The price is affected mainly by dimensions and construction, the complexity of the shape, the materials used, the number of individual parts, hardware and interior fittings, the surface finish, and how demanding the production and installation are.
A simple wardrobe made in a non-standard size is a different order than a large unit under a sloped ceiling.
That is why we prepare a price estimate based on the specific brief. For initial orientation, dimensions, photos and a basic idea of the result are enough for us.
Non-standard furniture from our own production in the Vysočina Region
We make furniture at our own site in Pavlov near Pelhřimov in the Vysočina Region. Vanprodukt has been making furniture since 1992 and, besides individual orders, also has experience with serial production.
In-house production, technical preparation and a broad technological base allow us to handle a single non-standard product as well as several interconnected elements of one interior.
If you are furnishing a larger part of an apartment or house and want to address the individual elements together, also take a look at complete custom interiors.
Do you have a space or an idea that ordinary furniture cannot handle? Contact us, send us photos, dimensions or a sketch, and together we will examine the options for realization.
Frequently asked questions
What does non-standard furniture mean?
Non-standard furniture is a product designed for a specific space or purpose that cannot be properly solved with ordinary series-produced furniture. A typical example is furniture under a sloped ceiling, in an alcove or under a staircase.
Can you make furniture under a sloped ceiling or for an alcove?
Yes. We design furniture according to the specific dimensions and building conditions of the space. For more complex solutions, we prepare the construction and production documents before production begins.
Can you produce to a supplied design?
Yes. We work with designs, drawings and technical documents, and in digital preparation we use, among others, the IMOS and AlphaCAM systems.
Do I need to have complete documentation ready?
No. For the initial assessment, dimensions, photos of the space, a sketch and a description of the requirements are usually enough. If you already have project documentation, we can work directly from it.
Do you also provide measuring and installation?
The scope of service depends on the specific order. Our published projects also include ones where we provided measuring at the customer's premises, a 3D visualization, production, delivery and final installation.
How much does non-standard furniture cost?
The price depends on the construction, materials, dimensions, hardware, surface finish and how demanding the production and installation are. That is why we prepare a price estimate based on the specific brief instead of a universal price per meter.
Where does Vanprodukt make its furniture?
We make furniture at our own production site in Pavlov near Pelhřimov in the Vysočina Region.
Do you also make more common custom furniture?
