Custom Built-In Wardrobes
Make use of the space from floor to ceiling. We design and build your built-in wardrobe to fit the specific room, the storage space you need and the way you will use it every day.
A custom built-in wardrobe makes sense wherever a standard wardrobe cannot use the space efficiently. It adapts to the exact dimensions of the room, alcove, sloped ceiling or other constraint, and its interior can be designed around what you actually need to store.
At Vanprodukt, we make built-in wardrobes and other custom-made furniture at our own production site in Pavlov near Pelhřimov. Every project starts from the specific space and the customer's brief – from dimensions and interior layout to materials and final appearance.
A Built-In Wardrobe Fitted to the Space, Not a Space Fitted to the Wardrobe
The main advantage of a built-in wardrobe is that it can use space that would otherwise stay empty with ordinary furniture. A wardrobe can fill an entire wall, run all the way up to the ceiling or adapt to an unusual layout.
Custom manufacturing is a good fit, for example, for:
built-in wardrobes for hallways and entrance halls,
built-in wardrobes for bedrooms,
walk-in closets and dressing room storage systems,
children's rooms and home offices,
alcoves and niches,
attics and spaces with sloped ceilings,
the space under stairs or around doors,
other places where you need to work with unusual dimensions.
It is in more complicated spaces that the difference between ready-made furniture and a wardrobe made to measure shows the most.
The Interior Layout Matters as Much as the Look
A good built-in wardrobe is not just meant to fill an empty wall. Above all, it has to work well.
Before production, it is therefore worth thinking about what will be stored in it and how often you will use each item. A bedroom wardrobe is designed differently from a hallway wardrobe for coats, shoes and sports equipment.
The interior can combine shelves, drawers, hanging sections and other storage space as needed. It is often practical to place everyday items in easy-to-reach sections and seasonal or rarely used items higher up.
The goal is not to create as many shelves as possible, but to design the storage space so that it matches what you need to put in it.
Built-In Wardrobes for Hallways and Entrance Halls
The entrance hall is one of the places where a built-in wardrobe can save the most space. In a relatively small area, you usually need to store coats, jackets, shoes, bags, seasonal clothing and a number of small items.
A custom wardrobe lets you combine various functions in a single solution while making use of the full available height and width of the space.
Depending on the layout, the wardrobe can be complemented by, for example, a shoe cabinet, a bench, a coat rack section or other storage furniture.
Built-In Wardrobes for Bedrooms and Dressing Rooms
For a built-in bedroom wardrobe, the most important thing is dividing the storage space correctly.
It helps to decide in advance how much room you need for hanging clothes, folded laundry, drawers, bedding or seasonal items. Thanks to made-to-measure production, the wardrobe can use the full height of the room while still adapting to the rest of the furnishings.
If you are planning a larger dressing room, more extensive open or closed storage systems can be designed in the same way.
Built-In Wardrobes for Attics and Unusual Spaces
A sloped ceiling, a narrow alcove or the space under a staircase is often a problem for mass-produced furniture. For custom manufacturing, it is a typical reason to build furniture to fit the specific place.
Thanks to digital production preparation and CNC technology, we can prepare furniture components to exact dimensions and handle even more complex shapes and junctions.
Materials and Appearance of a Built-In Wardrobe
Materials should be chosen not only for their looks, but also for the construction, the way the wardrobe will be used and the maintenance required.
In our own production of custom furniture at Vanprodukt, we work with board materials, solid wood and metal, and we also have technology for lacquering and other finishing operations. The specific choice of materials therefore always depends on the nature of the project.
A built-in wardrobe can be matched in look and materials to other furniture in the room, such as a shoe cabinet, chest of drawers or bookcase. Also take a look at our custom wardrobes and storage furniture.
How a Custom Built-In Wardrobe Is Made
The foundation is a proper understanding of the space and of how the wardrobe is supposed to work.
Depending on the specific project, the process may include measuring, designing the layout and materials, technical preparation, production of individual components and then installation on site.
In digital furniture production preparation, we use, among other things, the IMOS and AlphaCAM systems, which allow us to convert designs into precise production data for our machines.
How Much Does a Custom Built-In Wardrobe Cost?
A single price for a built-in wardrobe cannot be set seriously without a specific brief.
The final price is influenced mainly by the wardrobe's dimensions, its construction, interior fittings, the number of drawers and other elements, materials, surface finish, hardware and how demanding the space itself is.
There is a difference, for example, between a simple straight wardrobe and a built-in unit under a sloped ceiling or around structural elements.
For a meaningful quote, it is therefore best to provide at least the basic dimensions of the space, photos and an idea of how the wardrobe is to be used.
